Naruko’s parents were simple people. They were living in the forest peacefully, earning their own existence and trying their best to stay away from other people that might cause nothing else but trouble. They were happy; until they found out they couldn’t have a child. Desperate as they started to become, the two decided to ask a witch for help.
Unware of how dark magic worked or what they were getting themselves into, her parents agreed to everything the witch explained– only to receive what they were aching to have— a bundle of joy.
After a few long rituals, the witch managed to make their wish come true, but with consequences.
The mother carried the baby for nine months— until she needed the witch’s help again. Unfortunately, the mom died right after holding her newborn. Her last words were directed to the witch, asking her to help the father look after the little one. With a last cry, the mother muttered the name of her daughter: Naruko.
The father raised his daughter with love and tried his best to do a good job at it, but darkness started to drive him mad. He slowly started to talk alone, thinking his wife was still there. He even started to blame the little one for her mother’s death when he remembered she wasn’t there anymore.
Naruko wasn’t old enough to understand what was going on, but she accepted it out of love for her father; even when he started to become violent. Too scared to tell anyone, she continued to endure the domestic abuse until she became older. Once in her teenage years, her father went as far as acting towards her as if she was his wife, something she couldn’t accept. Hurt and upset due to her father’s behavior, Naruko managed to unlock her forbidden side, which no one other than the witch knew of. She couldn’t control it, which caused the demonic side to do as it wished… and that cost the life of her father. Once coming back to her senses, the kitsune realized what she has done, making her think of herself as a monster. She didn’t want the witch to know what happened, so she ran away into the world.
After a few long days lost in the forest, Naruko was found by some villagers which were looking for another lost child. They took her and gave her a home to an orphanage, but everyone seemed to hate her– bullying her, making fun of her, being violent just like her father. Not to be treated in such a way again, Naruko ran away once more, starting to live on the streets. The poor soul was trying her best to keep alive— stealing, tricking people, lying. That’s how she started pulling pranks as well, so she could bring at least a little joy into her own heart.
Continuing this lifestyle for so long, Naruko met her very first friend— Aiden. The young girl was trying to steal some food from him since she was very hungry, but he caught her. Instead of abuse, he was one of the only people who showed her kindness and helped her not only to learn but also to become someone in life, without having to steal in order to survive. They became lovers and stuck together for a very long time.
Since she knew herself better, one day she decided to go back and see if the old witch who helped her family so much was still around. She was met by a pleasant surprise. The witch was still there, along with her daughter and her husband. This was when Naruko met Hinata, one of the people she considers one of her best friends nowadays. After revealing what happened to the old lady, she found out the truth about what she truly was: a demon fox. Even though she lived on her own, Naruko continued to visit the old lady and help her around. She was very close to the family, suffering quite a lot whenever one of them died… but it was all worth it since she learned so much from them and had so many wonderful friendships and bonds due to them.
There also came a hard time for the kitsune and her lover, when there was no other choice for them other than to break up. They loved each other a lot and brought the better in one another, so this was heartbreaking for them both.
Being a social butterfly, Naruko managed to make a lot of friends, but only some managed to become like family. However, her last name came once she and Victoria decided they will stick together and consider each other long-lost sisters.
